On Tuesday last, Nancy traveled to Orodara to attend the “table ronde” session of the Mennonite church of Burkina Faso. The table ronde is a gathering of the leaders of the Mennonite church along with Mennonite missionaries working in the country. To get there she took a five-hour bus ride from Ouagadougou to Bobo Dioulasso and then a second bus out to Orodara. Since it takes the better part of a day to do the trip she was gone from Monday to Wednesday.
These meetings provide an opportunity for missionaries and church leaders to network, share, and plan for the future. This time the agenda included work on a three-year ministry plan for the church. It includes evangelization, Bible translation, work to counter HIV/Aids infections, leadership training, and income generation among other things. It’s an ambitious plan for the future of the church!
